I was talking to one of my guys that just got back from doing a pyro expedition and figured we would share some tips . Will add to it - if we think of more !
- Go to the different manufacturers websites and print their price lists off . Ie Vulcan , Royal , BEM , Hands , Mystical . Bring the price lists with you . If they don't have a price list email the company and ask . ( You can't see if you received a deal if you don't know what the prices should be. )
If you are going to buy a lot from one shop . Try emailing them a list of what you want before you go . The places we deal with will actually put those items aside for you and all you have to do is pick them up and pay for them . Makes it easier for you and easier for them .
Check to see if they only accept cash or debit or credit cards before you get there .
Order early if it is a popular item .

When buying from a Phatboy popup store go to their website first and print the prices or fill out an order and print the order sheet. In my experience the prices are marked retail in the popup stores but they will give you the cheaper price from the website if you ask. Also print any other shops that have cheaper prices as they will match the price. They may offer you something else if they don't have what you want in stock, check the price of that item on the website and see if its worth it as they may offer you something cheaper. Ask for something different/better if you don't want what they offer. Bring cash.
Any popup shop show them your price lists and ask if they will match as they probably will.

Don't be afraid to ask for a discount. In my experience, every shop is always happy to make a deal, or at least offer something for free.

If I am buying local, I will take out an exact amount of cash and tell the vender that this is my budget. So far, all of the venders with whom I've used this approach gave me some kind of deal to fit a good selection into that budget. I've gotten benefits worth between $50-$80 each time whether it be through free fireworks or discounts.

What is the markup price these pop up venders have? I am sure there is wiggle room and a business is there to make a profit but just wondering when they give a pack of sparklers or a few candles what is that out of their pocket, $1 or $2 ?

Supernova is great to work with and help you get what you want, they are also great at letting you know when certain stock will be coming in!
