I'm a bit curious... I heard the other day that Alberta is going Covid restriction free with a few exceptions (i.e. seniors homes) for Canada Day. To our western friends, is this true? Have any of you had inquiries about setting up shows since this announcement, or is it too soon? Will you have enough time to get inventory and permits? Hoping for a great Canada Day for you guys out there. Saskatchewan is pedal to the metal Company I work for is doing 17 shows and i am doing one on my own canada day

Why would rachelle care about someone shooting consumer cakes??? All fireworks/explosives are covered by the ERD, doesn't matter consumer vs display. You goof around with the consumer stuff and ERD will still bite ya. -Jamie M. Lol making a mountain out of a mole hill

So I spent the whole day at work thinking about this possibly happening maybe someday hopefully sooner than later. Instead of a competition, It may be more fun(and successful) to start out simple. If everyone who comes out were to bring their 3 favourite cakes (sub $20 - straight - angled). and their 3 favourite single shots, and maybe add in a couple of candles, we could simply hang out, have some bbq & chit chat, and the set the stash off when it gets dark. Part of the fun would also be in the preparation of the firing of the stash as a group. It would take some co-operation from our suppliers/retailers for us to purchase what we need, but I think the ones that I deal with would help where they can, and probably participate. I have taken part in many trade shows and competing companies tend to set aside the competition and have a good time for these kind of ideas. If this kind of event were to happen successfully for a few years, it could stand a better chance of gaining manufacturer sponsorship and then there could maybe be a competition. So?? I would be interested. This would be easy to do in Saskatchewan. We are easier going out west

These racks are over built and every tube is safe from the other with 1 inch board separating each mortar I think I'm safe Your last comment here. This is one I NEVER want to here when discussing explosives!!!I'm not trying to put you down, or discount the racks you built, or anything like that,BUT, this is a business/hobby where "you think you're safe" doesn't cut it !!!! Canada already has some of the worlds strictest fireworks regulations and requirements of the world, and every accident/incident just means they(NRCan) will make them even tighter. PLEASE, don't just "think" you're safe - KNOW for sure you are safe. it's not just you, that you are putting in jeopardy, it's all of us! Bye bye

There is a lot of containment of an in mortar explosion in that rack design. I think you would be very surprised by the result of filling all the mortars with shells and then causing an in mortar explosion to the mortar in the center of the rack. This is what would be required to properly test the the rack. With 3" salutes it is likely that there would be some propagation of the explosion to shells in adjacent mortars. Propagation could also occur with 4" shells if they have a high metal powder content. It is the containment and the mortars being as close together as they are that would cause the propagation of the explosion. The question is if you tested the rack would all the mortars except the one with the shell exploded in the mortar be intact and pointing up. These racks are over built and every tube is safe from the other with 1 inch board separating each mortar I think I'm safe

How did the destruction testing on these go? I am always very curious with wooden racks, especially when the mortars are close together Each mortar is separated by 1" plywood so these racks are more than safe

I was just getting into fireworks big then had to step away for 10 years to the day. Victoria Day was my first show in 10 years and it went off flawlessly! I used the FireFly Plus 2.0 with PowerPlate to fire the show. I didn't plan too well and ran out of cues with a bunch of fireworks left so I had to fuse the first three together which was a little messy, but after that everything had really great timing. As soon as the next course is to get my display fireworks license (assistant) I'll sign up for it (was already signed up for a few recently that got cancelled) and I already have three shows lined up to upgrade to supervisor. I'll be so great if I can get my license back again. I've got a massive show planned for July 1st including an insane finale using these: 11 x Glittering Brocades 9 x 100-Shot Perseids 7 x Epic Thunder 7 x Seismic Thunder 3 x Breaking Point 3 x 007 3 x Do Or Die After pre-testing Do or Die and being super impressed I might add more of them to the finale, space them out extra wide and shoot them in pairs of criss/cross possibly. Now that I can extend the ignition from the FireFly up to 5000ft the possibilities are endless My Victoria Day video (there's a sweet shot of the fireworks board at the end of the video, showing it shooting off during the finale): Thanks for reading and I hope to learn lots! -Jamie M. Thanks for posting

Hello all!
Our local fireworks show in town got cancelled due to COVID-19 (at least for now). Normally I'm busy working on shoots July 1st weekend, but I have a feeling I won't be too busy, so naturally, I'm gonna throw a backyard show for my family!
I haven't really perused the 1.4g stuff in a while... So tell me what's good!
Most of all I value diverse effects that are good for the money.
Glittering brocades The beast Double trouble Z fan raid Vendetta Do or die Just a few of my favs

Insurance for what? I think even having a convention once a year where we could get together would be great I'm not quite sure how to answer this, without coming off, well just mean. But I'll try. Firstly, Are you serious? ?? Unless it is a small private family event on private property, you NEED insurance. That's just the way the fireworks industry, And Canadian regulations, and for that matter, the way society today, is. No municipality, county, province, or pretty much even any private land owner is going to let you hold any kind of fireworks event without holding some type of liability insurance. If the public is involved, then definitely !!!!! All it would take is one little incident, even something as simple as someone falling out of their lawnchair because of uneven ground, and that would be the end. Honestly, I wouldn't even want to take part, nor do I imagine most of us would, if it wasn't a proper permitted and insured event. Is a matter of fact, a good portion of us on here couldn't, as we are licensed, and one of the stipulations of our license is we will follow and adhere to ALL regulations. It doesn't matter if its all 1.4G product or not. Now if it was just a small group of guys/gals, meeting up on one of the participants private land, having a bit of a show, well thats one story. The minute you startopening it up to people and/or the public, the dynamics of everything changes. Lets just give a very minor, but highly probable example: Someone brings some product, that, maybe got a bit damp, or had a defect in it, and such product blows out instead of up, and a fire starts. The fire department ends up being required. So, who is going to pay the bill??? What if it started a structure fire ? Suddenly thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage can easily happen. Who is going to cover that. God forbid, worst case scenario, someone gets hurt. As soon as a lawyer gets involve you are instantly looking at at least a $100 000 lawsuit! Now, the likelyhood of any incident happening is extremely low, but that is what insurance is for. Now if you are having a "convention" of any type - well you are going to want vendors and such there. Beleive me, I doubt you would get any vendor to show up to an uninsured event. Honestly these days, you are taking a huge risk setting off fireworks anywhere without some type of insurance policy, or a very hefty bank account. Sorry for the blatant and long winded answer, but sad to say, that's just the way it is. Insurance is a fact of life theses days. How do I come off bot sounding rude? Lol I've been doing shows for almost 10 years lol I meant to have a convention to meet have sales or meetings why would you need insurance And if someone sued me they would be awfully disappointed....... We dont need to shoot fireworks But if you wanted to do fireworks Saskatchewan would be a great place. We are little easier going than the "east" Sorry if I came across "mean" lol

There was a national convention several years ago, that involved strictly 1.4g product. If I remember correctly, it was put on by the CNFA. I think it ended up being a 1 time thing though, for many various reasons. Due to Canada's strict regulations and guidelines, I don't think you could ever get insurance for something like this, and without insurance - well it is simply a no go!!! its too bad, as it would be great. Insurance for what? I think even having a convention once a year where we could get together would be great
