The annual PGI convention has been postponed to 2021. This year it was scheduled for the second week of August in Fargo, North Dakota.

As Grisom said I am located just outside Winnipeg Manitoba. I got the document from a customer of mine that is having a fireworks show for July 1st in Saskatchewan. Because it is a small town they are able to accommodate their audience by social distancing.
There is also a small town in Manitoba that is doing the same thing. We are going to shoot larger shells and everyone in the town can see the fireworks without having to come close to the shoot site.
Even with Saskatchewan and Manitoba well on their way to opening up there are still very few shows happening for July 1st or any other dates. I am still concerned that I will not sell enough fireworks through the summer to make enough room in my magazines to store a container I have arriving in September.

Surprise fireworks to cheer people up. Sounds like a good idea to me. www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-52883403Also an interesting note. Marumataya Ogatsu fireworks were on the Authorized List until the ERD started charging to maintain products on the list.

Great idea! I would run to the highest window in my house.
I'm not surprised at the government charging a fee to not push delete. Now if the fee were to cover periodic plant inspections to maintain quality control...
Oh come on. That's just stupid talk.

Well, it's official. I got word this past week my Canada day show has been cancelled. No word yet if there is another show for me to work on, but I'm not counting on it. Looking around, and so far I have found only 1 community within 3 hours of me that so far hasn't cancelled their canada day fireworks. Now the wife and I are thinking of just inviting a few friends and family out for a BBQ, and I'll do a "small" family show for them, and my community! On a different note, on May 23 we had our annual "gathering" to celebrate a very dear friends passing - 11 years ago already !!!!!! I shot off a few cakes and singles and ended with 3 golden rain willows, a Fanatic, and 15 airbombs. Over the following week I have had almost all my neighbors come and thank me for the fireworks show - and how it was really nice to rush outside and enjoy the sights and noise for a few minutes to "break the monotony the last few months have brought ! (I live in a very small hamlet - most the population is retired and so they have been fully quarantining the last few months) It will be nice to do it for them again - but this time I'll let them know ahead of time!

Same as me, all my Canada day shows were cancelled so I'm spending this one with the family and deciding to put on a small show just for them and some friends. It's kinda fun to think and plan at a "small level" again, reminds me when I was a kid trying to convince my dad to by the biggest and most flashy looking pyro products at the convenience store lol

Out of 35 shows on July 1, (Saturday to Saturday) we have 1 left, I feel your pain. That's horrible! I feel really bad for all the owner/operators. This is really going to hurt them the most. I was kinda, in the back of my mind, hoping that most places would just postpone them, and maybe do an "end of quarantine/Canada celebration" display, But even that's not sounding hopeful. The city of Edmonton is already bragging on how they are going to save $294 000 by cancelling Canada day fireworks, and I've heard this same talk from other smaller communities as well. I get that money and budgets are tight these days BUT .............

How is New Years Eve shaping up for everyone? I just heard this week that my small consumer show will not be happening. And the bigger professional one nearby won't be going either. Sad times

When I did my Canada Day this year I fired off every bit of my reserve stash trying to get the most out of the night. Then on Wednesday night I got home to the north end of the city around 7pm to find that the power was out for many blocks. Even Timmies was closed! It was so dark, it felt dangerous driving through the streets to get home. As I pulled into the driveway, I said to my wife, "What a terrible night to have no fireworks reserve put away." We both figured that the neighbourhood would have loved the sky being lit up for a few minutes. Really only topical because it's the kind of lifting up people seem to be looking for this year. Life lesson... Always keep a few hundred dollars worth of stash safely on hand. (except that it would have been illegal, and the cops were pretty close by)
Oh Yeah, the power was out for over 4 hours. They probably would have been begging for more. (except again, that it would have been illegal, and the cops were pretty close by)
