I assume that most of you have seen the video, but here it is just in case: gulfnews.com/sport/watch-tokyo-2020-olympics-fireworks-go-off-with-a-bang-despite-there-being-no-games-1.159740289323Well this is just great! When a co-worker sent me the link today, I watched it and thought it looked too colourful and cool to be real. I have never actually seen a laser show, but I figured that this show had to be laser enhanced. I started this post to ask the professionals if it was real or faked. I next opened a new window to create a link and the first thing to pop up in the Google search was the report of the video being a fake. I figured that I might as well continue on with looking stupid, or taking a glass half full point of view, show what an incredibly good eye I have developed since joining the forum! I'm going with the good eye thing. Thanks all for all of your help in honing my fireworks video watching skills!!! Hope that I didn't wake any of you with this breaking news.

yeah. The very first indicator that this was a fireworks simulator video, was the lack of smoke. Japanese are the gods of hanabi but even they haven't come up with smokeless fireworks .... yet. Second huge indicator was the fact that the shell explosions were at the exact time of the burst. The "camera" was simply too far away for that to happen. there would have been an almost 2 second delay between the burst and the sound.

My wife and I were both commenting on the lack of smoke when we watched it the first time. I honestly didn't even notice the timing issue with the burst/boom. I always get too distracted by the music if I like it, and who doesn't like the William Tell Overture? That's kind of why I'm not a huge fan of pyromusicals.

LOL. I'm the opposite. I love all fireworks shows - well except for the ones being put on by drunken idiots in their back yard that have no idea what they are doing !!!!
Since watching my first pyromusical way back in 2003, I pretty much can't listen to a song without thinking/planning a fireworks show to it - which is kinda sad, as I have never actually worked on a pyromusical shoot!!!
