Kind of funny how 1382 containers per year is considered few and far between. I'm sure that that's a drop in the bucket total container wise, but that could put multiple small businesses out of business every year.
Does anyone know if Canada bound fireworks offload at American docks first?

I have brought containers in through Long Beach California but not because I wanted to. It costs a lot more. Only a few of the container lines carry fireworks and with surprise changes in China affecting fireworks shipping some times it is necessary.
I follow shipping news and containers lost at sea is quite common, but usually not as many as this time. Typically there is shipping insurance on the container to cover the loss. So the companies that lost their containers are not out the money but it is a loss for them not to have their fireworks to sell for New Year.
Also it makes perfect sense that fireworks containers were lost because they have to be on the top layer on the containership.

theloadstar.com/maersk-essen-loses-750-boxes-into-the-pacific/A Maersk Ship lost 750 containers in the Pacific enroute from Xiamen China to Los Angeles. These incidents are happening more frequently because of the huge increase of exports from China are causing the container ships to be loaded full and traveling at top speed. When they do this their stability in large waves is affected. Because the ship did not come from a port in China that allows the export of fireworks there are most likely no containers of fireworks lost.

These incidents will only increase the cost of goods.
It is good that this was not another ship transporting fireworks.

Probably all of the consumer electronics (OLED TV''s, surround receivers) that my employers customers ordered 2-3 months ago.
