Hard to believe that all these countries will come. I think this is really far fetched. How about inviting PyroEmotions from Italy! LOL.

One thing they have going for them is that the city is going to pay for all (or at least half of the fireworks) so I could see why the companies want to come just for fun and some free advertising
The thing that sounds crazy to me is that they expect people to pay $200 dollars to go. I don't think your average person will pay anything to see fireworks, especially when you will still be able to see them for free from outside the grounds.

I would have issues having to pay $25,000 on top of the $25,000 in product given
I've never heard of any of these companies bar 1
It's as if the A class companies turned them down
Can't help but think it's like watching John Stamos think his career is still valuable with this situation
This is getting all the wrong publicity. I feel sorry for the residents of Timmons footing the bill

It is standard practice that companies/countries will increase their budgets and spend more than they have been given. I can't see them doubling their budgets though, I think its just political talk to the media for the tax payers of Timmins. I think this is a great idea, but I personally don't think it will fly in Timmins. Their location is almost 8 hours north of Toronto, and with the amount of stuff that will be happening next year for Canada 150, I can't see people making the drive. Let's see what the A list entertainment will be, that could be the saving grace.
As for the companies competing, Féérie, Titanium and Dance of Fire are well know companies that produce big shows in their native country, and compete in competitions around the world.

I agree 8 hours is too far. I'm not driving 8 hours to see a fireworks show.
I wonder how many times they tried different councils between Timmons and the GTA before they hit gold
It will probably get busy on the last night with the entertainment but the 5 days prior it may just be the locals

I was wondering the same thing. Mr. Whysall has been trying for years to get a competition organized, which I applaud him for his efforts.
Not sure what happened with the one he was advertising in Oshawa. But I was wondering the same thing, how many cities/towns has he asked?

Unfortunately, I will be setting up my own neighbourhood show to doing some large town gigs! Not to mention I don't think I would travel that distance to see a show anyways.

Yep it's the wrong time of year, 18 shows that day I don't have time to watch other shows, if it was closer I might go, but $400 for a week of Fireworks when I can watch my own lol
Hope it brings in some bucks for local Timmins businesses

Any word on how this event went? Facebook seems to suggest at least one show got postponed due to wind?

From this link it sounds like a lot of shows did not happen. www.timminspress.com/2017/07/02/ukraine-closes-fireworks-competitionTIMMINS - Team Ukraine brought drama to their fireworks show on Canada Day. Their performance was followed by the detonation of Finland's leftover fireworks for a grand finale. Large crowds filled the area outside Stars & Thunder's fence to watch the show. Several teams - China, Brazil and the United Kingdom - were unable to compete due to high winds and Team Canada ceded their July 1 spot to Ukraine and Finland. Leftover fireworks may be used at a later date, as Team Canada has offered to return

4 Shows did not happen as the wind direction was towards the crowd. Each night the crowds were excellent. When we did fire shows it was awesome. It was a real bummer that we did not get to setup / fire Canada's show. The city of Timmins now has 4 shows in the bank for either later this year or next. We'll wait and see what council decides. I for one will go back. I applaud the organizers for pulling this off. This festival has put the City of Timmins and Northern Ontario on the map for many.

Are you one of the technicians who worked the Festival? Or a spectator who took in the event? Will Timmins try again? Good fireworks competitions with quality organization, are great for Canada and it's fireworks industry.

I was one of the technicians working on the shows. I believe Timmins is going to have it again next year.
