I had Emailed the Institute and I got a call back confirming that they are still operating. The cost for membership and insurance remain the same as stated on their website.

Act now or lose inexpensive insurance. I received an Email from the Fireworks institute yesterday saying they need more people signed up or they can't keep operating their insurance program. There is nowhere else in Canada that you can insure yourself to shoot fireworks for about $1000.00. To the best of my knowledge the next lowest prices shooter insurance is $2500 and up and offers less coverage. Apparently their insurer needs to see enough shooters signed up by tomorrow April 30th. So do it now or pay a lot more later. The cost is $393.75 plus Gst for membership and $575.00 plus provincial taxes for insurance. To be clear I have no financial interest in the Fireworks Institute and have no use for their insurance program as it would not cover my company. The insurance is only for shooters not importers, distributors or retailers. This is a great opportunity for the shooter that shoots a few shows each year to get insured at a reasonable price. fireworksinstitute.com/

The Fireworks Institute has enough shooters participating in their insurance program to keep it going for this year. If you are an independent shooter requiring insurance support this organization because there is nowhere else in Canada you won't find insurance anywhere near the price that they offer through their group insurance plan.
