hey I noticed the government seems to be dragging their feet on getting the course schedules out! Why is this. I am in saskatchewan and have been checking everyday to see if they have updated schedules for courses and so far just bc and ontario.
Last year they had courses in may in sask this year its looking like august!

Seems like there is not that much interested maybe. I don't know, maybe you can ask Rachel from the ERD.

It's not lack of interest. It is they post the courses that ERD teaches. Companies have held courses, but they are drawing in the people to attend. If you're interested you need to find a company who are capable of teaching. We had our course for this year. We had nearly 20 people attend, but it was all word of mouth.

I'm sure she's busy - she usually gets back to me pretty fast, but she might have some vacation, or be on the road right now. If you haven't heard back from her by tomorrow, i'd send in another email and mention that you haven't heard back - maybe leave a phone number. If you're having email troubles she might be able to call you. or perhaps include a different address she can CC her answer to
Don't forget to check your junk folder as well, just in case.

The ERD (Explosives Regulatory Division) has only recently approved a select number of experienced, qualified Trainers to provide the Safety and Legal Awareness Courses and Jim Cammaert of The Fireworks Factory Inc. is honored to be one of them. Having received this certification just shortly ago the following courses will be the first that we are able to provide. Other locations in BC and SK will be scheduled at later dates.
Display Fireworks: Safety and Legal Awareness Course
The Fireworks Factory is happy to announce that the following course dates have been set:
May 17, 2014 Saturday
June 14, 2014 Saturday
These courses will be held in conjunction with Global Training Centre (near Strathmore, AB). Classroom size will accommodate 40 students only, so courses will fill up quickly. Please register early.
The course fees will be:
$100.00 Safety and Legal Awareness Course
100.00 ERD (processing fee for the Fireworks Operators Certification)
20.00 Photo service fee (optional)
To use Display Fireworks or Pyrotechnic Special Effects you must be certified by Natural Resources Canada.
This course also covers the certification for AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction).
Once you have taken the Safety and Legal Awareness course you will receive a certificate of completion, with which you will be able to apply to the ERD for your Fireworks Operator Certificate.

Are they charging $100 to teach the course and then having that person send $100 to ERD for processing?

Good day
My company has received the blessing of NRC to conduct safety legal awareness training, I have provided one course in May to qualify my crew for the summer, We also provided training to local firefighters that may be appointed AHJ.
Am looking at two course serials to be ran in the fall ( Late Sept, early Oct). These would be taught in the Ottawa Valley area of Ontario.
If you would like additional info please send me an message.
Cheers
Robert
