Hello all!
Our local fireworks show in town got cancelled due to COVID-19 (at least for now). Normally I'm busy working on shoots July 1st weekend, but I have a feeling I won't be too busy, so naturally, I'm gonna throw a backyard show for my family!
I haven't really perused the 1.4g stuff in a while... So tell me what's good!
Most of all I value diverse effects that are good for the money.

My wife's favorite cake, and one of mine, is Fanatic. Really good if shot in pairs - providing you have the spacing for it. otherwise, even just 1 is great.
Myself, I was always partial to single shot mortars, but the selection of them, and the cost now days, makes multishot cakes an overall better bang for your buck !!!! Also easier for fusing/igniting them.
There are some pretty good sales gong on on most sites right now, which really makes all the pro-pyro cakes a great value. Mystical's pro pyro line, and Competitions CDC series are all pretty good. Just look up some youtube videos of them and choose the colors/effects you like.

Thanks Gents! These are some good ones. Also I'm fine with the info-overload spreadsheet copy/paste job there LondonFan lol. I appreciate the timing references as that makes my job easier lol. I'll definitely look into those small cakes too cause often every company designs their cakes as a "finale" piece so I'm definitely in the market for something more intermediary as well. Love Do or Die's too but I can't seem to find em' anywhere these days.
Also, thanks! Yeah I've been gone from here for a while, a lot has happened though, I'm a supervisor now! Someone commented on one of my old posts on here and I got a notification which reminded me to come and check in!
Speaking of one shots though, is there any new comets on the market?

Well we like the following.
007. Fortune teller Wizard The Proud Robo spider Robo Captain Flare Flash Apocalypse Wow ( reminds us of Longs Armed Attacker) Kheops. Haywire BEM Jubilee
As to new comets. Unfortunately no new ones. Royal pyrotechnie does have some nice preloaded mortars though.

So I’ll list the ‘different’ type of cakes. Not the typical breaks or glitter.
Robo Spider Heywire Radiance Howl at the Moon Scorpion Sting No Man’s Land Gargoyle

I forgot to add Haywire to my list. I like your suggestions, but I haven't found Scorpion Sting to be as impressive live as it is in the videos. I was going to ask which Radiance; Mystical or Competition. But both are quite good. A lot of people seem to really like the Robo series. I guess I should try some.

I only put Scorpion Sting because it’s just different from the other typical cake. It’s just a nice effect. Radiance is a nice fan cake. Not loud breaks. Again...just a different type of effect.

I have all the fireworks in my Victoria Day show labeled (the one in the finale is vicious circle, not ring of fire), might see something you like -Jamie M.

Well gents! I've made my order, had to trim it down a few times as I was getting carried away, but it will be a fun show regardless!
Thanks for all the suggestions. Lemme know what ya think!

Damn man, looks great! No 007? Yikes Only 2 glittering brocades? There's no such thing as too many glittering brocades! Are you going to criss/cross Do or Die? It looks absolutely epic angled 45 degrees and set up for criss cross (make sure fuse is at the bottom when angled, for both cakes). Warning: at 45 degrees the widest fan shot pretty much skips across the ground I love night magic for such a cheap/small cake, I have 11 of them just before my finale For "Tropic Thunder" did you mean Tropical Thunder? I can't wait to see Seismic Thunder, I have 7 of them (as well as 7 of Epic Thunder) in my finale, no Tropic Thunder in my show because it looked too similar to other cakes I already had. Haywire is a great choice, always a crowd favourite. Go Fish, always awesome cake, and Joker gets lots of cheers too! Should be a killer show. You hand lighting all of that? -Jamie M.

Ha ha, had to keep the budget and expectations low! lol. If it's just for my family I don't wanna go tooooo crazy. Handlight? Hell no! I stopped hand lighting years ago after too many close calls, also to protect my ears; outside of the pyro industry I'm a sound editor and designer for films. Love the boom but not the ring! Also yeah I like 007 but never got into the hype for the price, and Night Magic is a fave of mine too, great value for what's more of an unusual effect at the consumer level.

I might pitch Do Or Die at a 15 degree angle but no more, as spectators will be watching from the obliques of the shoot site as well.

I might pitch Do Or Die at a 15 degree angle but no more, as spectators will be watching from the obliques of the shoot site as well. Sounds like a safe plan! At my last show I had problems controlling site security, some kids hid in a bush beside my rack and I has some low shots (no shells, just mines/comets) but could have turned out bad. I got some caution tape and some friends to help out with security at my July 1st show, hopefully that helps. -Jamie M.

Oh my, that's terrifying. I shouldn't have to worry about that too much though as social distancing is keeping the crowd to a size of... 10. lol.

My July 1st show is a "drive in" show, like a drive in movie, but with fireworks. So I'm not limiting it to 10, but people are encouraged to stay in their cars or at least stay with their cars. -Jamie M.

Nice list! It should be a great time for all. You have some items there that I've never tried. Now I have to go video watching! It's nice that we can go to a group of 10. I have a feeling that every driveway (15 of them) in my circle will have 10 people on it. I also, conveniently, happen to have enough space on my front yard grass for another group of 10. Maybe even 2 groups.
