Last night there was a show for Western University's orientation week. It was fantastically loud, but I just couldn't see it from home. The show actually started while I was on my way home from being minutes away from the university. I could have easily had a fantastic view from right were I was. Of course being a university "O-week" event it was not announced to the public, or even listed on the UWO O-week web page. Other than a forum member posting about a show, like Toysareforboys (Jamie M.) did for the show they just worked, does anybody know of a way of finding out when these will happen? I already did a search to see if I could look up approved permits for London with no luck. Is there often a gag clause in the contracts to avoid "unauthorized" viewing? Does anyone know who did the show here last night? Londonpyro is the only other forum member that I would assume is from the London area, but they have been rather quiet lately.

I would assume authorized viewing of the display would be up to the client. If it was a private display, they wouldn't want outside guests at their party.
When taking the ERD course, there is mentions of crowd control, security, etc. I would assume that most company owners make this the responsibility of the client. If every event was advertised, then these requirements could be a very large and expensive undertaking for a client just looking to have a fireworks display for friends, family, etc.

The non-municipal (not May 24 or Canada Day)events that take place in London are usually done at the university or at the forks of the Thames river, both of which are in the heart of the city. Distance to these locations can be easily controlled, but the surrounding sidewalks and parking lots are free access. They are also at very safe distances from the firing site. We don't get many, if any, golf course shows here.(that I know of) I looked into it for my nieces wedding, and the course, even though they were outside the city was not at all receptive to the idea. I guess I'm just wondering how to find out about these in advance, so that I can actually see them instead of just hear them. I have a friend that lives on the top floor of a condo tower across the river from the downtown firing site. The view is amazing from her patio or roof top deck. We just have to know when. While on the roof top deck, you are around the same height as the breaks. The light intensity and the sound are unbelievable. If I ever give up my own fun on Canada Day, you will find me there! My Sister in law lives very close to the university and simply stopping in a parking lot on the way home would have given me a really good view the other night.

Well I don't know what size shells they were shooting, but man were they loud. Every one within 5 miles knew something was going on. My nephew didn't think of it in advance, but he says they do something every year on the Saturday of orientation week.
Next year...

So last Wednesday (Dec. 2) there was a large fireworks show at the London Hellenic Centre. One of my co-workers came out from shopping into a a nearby parking lot and sent me a short clip as he stood with his wife and son watching a 15 - 20 minute show. My brother-in-law is Greek and new nothing about the event.I can't win on finding out about these things in advance. (in London that is) Thanks to those that are giving us some notice when you can. I can't wait until one of you Professionals is doing a job in the London area. ( and you can leak the info )
