I'm not even sure where to post this, so I figured that this was the best topic category to start in.
Isn't it amazing how the zoo keepers and the news outlets fail to mention that this most likely would have been prevented by safely housing the animals on a night when it is well known that fireworks will be used.
Many people that I know put their dogs in the basement with lots of old blankets, and often have "comfort vests" for their pets, on Canada Day.
It is so much easier to blame the fireworks, instead of Zookeepers and others caring for animals. Maybe they should be taking responsibility for failing to do their jobs.
Are we going to ban God or Mother Nature, depending on your beliefs, from creating lightening storms?
Some of the other animal injuries are admittedly caused by fireworks, but the descriptions seem to indicate that the fireworks were being used by idiots.
Banning fireworks won't stop the harm caused by idiots. Sadly, they will always find a way.
Small rant time...
I have said for years that the lawmakers need to find a way to create "You're Stupid" tickets. Exponentially increasing enforced fines would do a lot to make the world a better place for people that want to live safely and peacefully by using their brains to think before they do.
Hopefully this hasn't overstepped the rules of the forum, but news articles like this just tick me off.
