I'm not sure who keeps up with the competitions in Canada, or in the world in general.
The competition was over the last week.
Japan won.
Team USA - Pyrotechnico
Team France - F.C. Pyro
Team Japan - Akariya Fireworks

I watched France (blah) and Japan's show in person.
Japan left me giggling like a school girl on the beach. Definitely one of the best shows I've ever seen in person. Probably THE best. Their amazing using of the water and sky, plus the beautiful large shells, timed nicely with the powerful music is exactly what I wanted to see.
Kudos to Japan, I'd been looking forward to this show for 9+ months, and I was starting to worry that I'd over-hyped myself to the point I'd be disappointed. Not a chance! Excellent!

Bit of an old thread, but I had coffee with one of the crew members for CoL this morning. He reminded me that Japan actually shot almost all Chinese shells for their show because of a shipping error that left all their home-grown shells not on Canadian soil. Which is sad, but a huge kudos to them for still managing to pull off an absolutely stunning show. Also, there is going to be an announcement next week (i believe) for this year's Celebration of Light shows. Its the 25th anniversary so there is a bunch of good ideas in the works that should prove rather exciting.

I'd really like to dig around some more and see if its possible to get onto the barges for a tour. Just pure curiosity, but I want to see the setup in person before the shows.
If you ever do make it out this way to check out the show(s), let me know. It's always nice to meet up with other explody-things-enthusiasts.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely you'll be able to visit the barges unless you're a sponsor or media - so maybe get working on those press credentials now…?
