With the use of consumer fireworks being controlled at the local level (at least in Ontario), there isn't a single government entity to convince, there's hundreds to thousands. In Ottawa, where I live, their use is governed by By-Law No. 2003-237, which says they can only be used on Victoria Day, Canada Day and the day before and after those days. Up at my cottage, on the other hand, I can't find any by-law governing their use, though I suspect that's not necessarily indicative of reality -- they seem to struggle with the Internet. Still, it's possible to buy them at almost anytime of the year in my experience and as long as you respect fire bans you're probably ok. Still, I wish you luck!

I was thinking the same thing. For example in Mississauga we can only have fireworks the day of Canada Day and Victoria Day, or the day after if there is bad weather. Other places like Brampton allow fireworks on Diwali. I heard in Other places more towards Muskoka and Barrie they are much less restrictive.
