Brampton requires a permit for consumer fireworks so I wonder if the people lighting them off had one? I doubt it. Hopefully they find the fire was caused by something else but it sounds like it was fireworks.

Looks like its confirmed that fireworks caused the fire: www.bramptonguardian.com/news-story/6117701-breaking-news-binder-twine-blaze-caused-by-improper-disposal-of-spent-fireworks-fire-investigators/Brampton fire investigators have ruled Wednesday night's massive fire that destroyed two homes and damaged two others on Binder Twine Trail was caused by "improper disposal of fireworks". City officials announced the outcome of the investigation late Friday. The fire investigation has determined the blaze was accidental and started in the garage of the house. Fire officials said any spent fireworks that were not put in a pail of water after use would be considered "disposed of improperly". Hot or incompletely spent fireworks can spark a fire if placed near anything that can burn, according to fire investigators...

Sad, but no one was hurt.
Watch a video, put ads on TV, hand out flyers, something to pass the word out about firework safety.

"But lawmakers note previous attempts at restricting fireworks use have ignited tensions in the community and forced councillors to consider a less restrictive approach and a lot of emphasis placed on education." Really, when... I have never since ads or flyers nothing... I think they should give the education part a solid try before even thinking of an all out ban "Gibson’s motion would limit fireworks use to displays that are professionally orchestrated. " How often is that going happen? All and all this can't be good

Education kills ignorance - it's the same with anything that has a hazard attached to it. Include a training course for free for communities that want fireworks, have each person sign a waiver and show the penalties and fines if the law is not followed. But it is free - lots of demos but the people who sign the forms are taking responsibility for their actions.
Stupid fees and political head games aren't going to solve stupidity.
It's the same with firearms - you teach someone young to shoot responsibly and train them well, likely, most likely they will model the behaviour for others.
