I have no idea why we are simply restricted to boring golden sparklers in Canada. What's the reasoning behind this? Anyone know?

Pacific Pyro has 7.5 inch blue sparklers authorised in Canada -not sure who is carrying them though. Years ago BEM fireworks were distributing them .

It would be nice to have green, silver, red, orange, violet ... Crackle. In China they have morning glories which are a paper tube like hand held sparkler which is very slow burning and colourful!

About 20 years ago morning glory sparklers were authorised in Canada . Again BEM fireworks used to carry them, I think I still have a package or two kicking about. Have to have a look in the vault .

Okay- this good to know, but I am curious as to the reason why we don't see colored sparklers in Canada? NRcan banned them? I don't see them on the approved list. I just see golden sparklers. It is really odd! My last trip to the US and you can get virtually any color---

Confirmed by a senior pyrotechnican - in 1995 all coloured hand held sparklers were made illegal for sale in Canada and Morning Glory paper sparklers are a banned novelty item since that time as well. Only a blue sparkler colour has been on the approved list - typically used in Quebec via Pacific Pyro. Pretty silly!
Why? Again, no reason has been given. Same with crackling balls, throw down fulminate snaps, party streamer crackers and Sprite bombs. But one quick glance in China Town in Vancouver and you can find these items for sale on mass despite being illegal items. LOL!

Looks like I found coloured sparklers in Oliver BC at a fruit stand of all places in the middle of the summer. These are for Ethnic celebrations.... Oh yeah, I checked on the ERD Approved Explosives lists, these sparklers aren't on it. Go Figure!
