Hey guys im looking to buy my first firing system and having an internal debate. was looking at the p1200 from pyroboom because the reviews are decent and its at a nice price point but im wondering if a guy would be better off saving up a little more stepping into a Cobra or something similar. What are your opinions? I dont want to put out for the p1200 system and regret when i can just save another month or 2 and get something a little higher end.

Cobra all the way
Customer service is second to none
System is 1000% better than that Chinese thing
I've seen that one in action, go Cobra, you won't be disappointed

Depends, are you doing this semi pro ?? Once in a blue moon?? The p12000 System (Which I will be carrying shortly) is a cheap alternative to a pro system but as mentioned a cheap system ... that is it. It can handle 1200 cues and has a range of roughly 200' These systems have there draw backs and are not true professional systems but if your the person who does 3-8 $3000 shows a year then this will work for you.
But if you plan on doing this professionally then as mentioned buy a professional system like the Cobra or the Pyro Lite that I carry or the Pyrosure system where you can expand to your hearts content and it has all sorts of possibilities and range is amazing. Then there is option c: Use a nail board with 2 cables and a battery - very crude but it works and it does not get cheaper then that.

I didn't buy a cobra and regret it, save for it if you can afford it. Gotta agree with pyrotechsupply though, if you are going to use it once a year Cobra may be a little overkill. There are some hidden costs as well I believe like buying some of the software and I think you need a separate device to update it? I would still go for the Cobra though if you can justify the cost.

I have bought many units like the one mentioned p1200, Several Dewey's Spark fire's until settling and saving up for my Cobra. Just an incredible simple system and customer service beyond anything I have seen from a business.
Hope this helps!
