If you haven’t gone, this is a must go for any pyro. Do yourself a favour and get there.

I would love to get on as a tech with any of the shows Hard to get onto this show. The countries bring their own techs and any extra ones needed are usually provided by GFA. They have ample people in Quebec region to cover those positions. Always a premier event to work on. I work with GFA and I’ve yet to get onto that show.

They bring their own guys but sometimes need extra hands. So they use GFA guys to help out.

Thats not exactly correct. yes the teams do bring thier own crew, but laronde provides a base crew of 13 technicians. Some of them have been working there since the start. you can read more about how its all done on this page -http://montreal-fireworks.com/- though it is a little outdated on the "how its done" section - crew size has expanded, budgets have been increased , there is now a ramp 5 , etc etc, but overall - great behind the scenes info. Now yes , you could get on with one of the teams competing, but I'm sure you'd have to be very well connected, as I'm sure they ussually send their "cream of the crop" techs. You would have a better chance of starting out at a smaller event, such as Globalfest held in Calgary every year, where the teams ussually just send the script, and the company from Canada does the set-up. This year , like the las few , it is sirius pyro.

Thats not exactly correct. There are times the traveling company can not make it for various reasons, but for the large majority of the time the international company send 2 or more individuals to oversee setup and get their show in the ground. There is a local crew of technicians on site as with most competition shows, but that is outside of any team coming in to compete.

Rosafi, does that still ring true , now that its a festival, and not a competition? I know the first 10 years , while it was actually a competition, the competing teams sent reps, but Ive heard , since they changed to just a festival, most teams just sent a script. This was told to me by a couple of people that have worked it, when Appogee still was the host company.
And yes aussie, wasn't that a great show!!!! Especially if you saw any of the set-up pictures. it didn't look like it was going to be very much. I would rank it right up there with Pyroemotions 2013 win!

Pryot I agree will Rosafi. Globalfest has an onsite crew (like Montreal), but the competing team/country is still required to send 2-3 technicians to help with setup.
