I must admit that have a bit of a man crush on a fairly recent addition to Maxpower's website. I didn't notice when it was added, but over the last few weeks I have loved to check it out. In the Multi shot cakes tab they added a re-wraps tab. This is some of the best money saving info out there for a casual pyro. I love watching videos of new products, but I do have a hard time recognizing a re-wrap. It amazes me how some of you guys seem to see it right away. It's such a scam, I love the help.
Thanks to Maxpower for posting this info on their site.

re wraps make me mad I want new product not a new name of something that didn't sell last year I think you are maybe not understanding why some items are re-wrapped. Sometimes BECAUSE an item sells well it gets re-wrapped. A company can come to an agreement with most family fireworks manufacturers on a minimum quantity of cases, and you can re-wrap their products. Say for example The Menace... you order qty:X cases of it direct from the supplier (Mystical) the may agree to put whatever name and artwork on the cake. Would still say imported/authorized by Mystical on the cake but you can then put your own logo and name onto the cake. Sure sometimes a cake doesn't sell well until on name/artwork and the company doesn't want to add a different piece, this can be an easy way to make something look fresh; but it's also a way for companies to be able to promote their own products.

They also claim on their website that re-wrap items "are put at a higher price to the consumer". While the list they've show is would seem to make that true, I know of many items that that is not the case. Some are selling for the same MSRP, and some offer discounts. The quantity some companies bring these in can allow them bigger discounts. Sometimes that discount is passed along
EDIT:

They have removed the re-wraps post.

It's gone!!! Makes me wonder who pressured them. I don't hate re-wraps. I hate it when a fantastic small cake like Red Alert is re-wrapped and listed at a substantially higher price. Even the discount from list is above the originals sale price from most retailers. That's when it's a rip off.

I shot red alert as a test cake before my show and I was shocked at how good it was!!!! Blew me away. It's gone!!! Makes me wonder who pressured them. I don't hate re-wraps. And there is my point. I used to pay $18.00 for Red Alert when I just went to a pop up and spent a couple of hundred. Now that I'm older but not wiser, I pay much less. (ok, maybe a bit wiser)
Red Dawn is MSRP $29.00, on sale for $21.99, and part of a pro pyro group!
This is when I say that re-wraps are a rip off. The average guy could get 2 Red Alerts for the price of 1 Red Dawn. This could also be part of the reason that many people say that fireworks are so expensive, which then creates a lack of sales.
