Does anyone else on here follow any of the other international competitions/festivals?
I follow the DaNang International Fireworks Festival on facebook, and I just finished watching day 4 live on TV. I would have shared the link to watch it, but found it last minute ! This is also the first time they shared the link to watch it live.
For the facebook users, the page is here : www.facebook.com/diffvietnam/
They post lots of great quick video's of the highlights and the setups.
One thing I really like about this particular festival, is the competitors are limited to 155mm/6" shells, with the majority being 105mm. This really shows off just what can be accomplished with "small caliber" product in a competition setting, which is great for us people that never get to play with the big guns! I personally have been licensed and shooting for 17 years now, and I have yet to even be on a site with large shells!
Anyhow, todays match was between team Britan, and team China. ( the format is 2 teams go head to head per night, with a winner being chosen from each night. then the winners from each night are compared, and on the4 final night the top 2 teams go head to head in the finally. Each team has to come prepared to shoot 2 shows in the event that they are chosen as one of the finalists)
Team Britan definitely had much better choreography to the music, but team China showcased a LOT of new colors and product, that we will hopefully see become available to us in the next couple of years !!! In typical Chinese style There was alot of product that has copied Japanese Hanabi, such as ghost type shells and some really great color changers. As well there were some very nice and vibrant new colors !!!! I am happy to see this, as it is impossible to get Japanese fireworks (they guard their secrets well!) so to see the Chinese manufactur's starting to produce it is great news for us!
