Would love to get your thoughts on the following: 1. What cake do you think has the biggest break? Any other cakes you would consider to be in that “wow that was a seriously impressive break” category? 2. 9 big shots. I saw the hype around it when it came out but have yet to see a decent video of it being fired. Anyone have a video? If you have fired it, what are your thoughts? 3. Although firework prices are ever changing, what would you consider to be the best valued firework out there? Let’s break this out into 2 categories, cakes and single shots.

I love to opine...
1. I love Vendetta for a fanned cake, Bomber for a straight cake, and Hell Breaks Loose for a multi effect.
2. I haven't tried one but I always want to. It just never fits into my budget.
3. Cake - Mystical's Pro Pyro Lock Down or Hells Gate. Single shot - BEM's Colour Peony is my favourite, and it's cheap! There are bigger and better, but I love it's value.

Vendetta does look great!
Yeah, hopefully someone has a video of it. Even with the massive discounts its still seems pretty pricey for 9 shots.
I saw those and wondered how much better they were than "regular" consumer cakes. Yes they have the word "pro" in them but reading the descriptions I don't feel like they go any higher or have a drastically bigger break.

Save your 4 Pro series cakes for the end!!! As I am not certified (for 1.3g fireworks anyways), I can't do a direct comparison to 1.3g cakes, but I certainly do find that they go a bit higher, break a bit bigger, flash a bit brighter, and certainly bang louder. If I could afford it, all of the 40 - 50 cakes that I buy for Canada Day would be from every brands "PRO" series. Yes it is a marketing thing, but it's as close as us once or twice a year backyard warriors can get. Remember...they are consumer products, kind of designed to be used within the confines of a local by-law. The by-laws usually state that you must set them off on your own property and not discharge them onto the street. Safety wise they can only break so big before virtually the entire consumer market is squeezed out. Oh for a dock on a lake.

Glittering brocades and the Proud seem to be the biggest breaks that we have noticed . Wizard and Seismic Thunder both have rather large breaks but technically classed as barrages as they have 7 tubes . If you want a large break item buy multicoloured peony (Brazilian Tube style ) by Competition fireworks .
9 big shots - Strangely enough we haven't tried . In our case with mortars we tend to shoot them off in multiples of 5 . So I can't see us buying 5 of them .

Just because it groups shells together to give it a large feel. My whole finale last year was 20 Wizards and 4 Glittering Brocades.

Grisom, how would you compare the break of multicolor peony to items like The Proud and Golden Rain Willow? Is it bigger than those breaks? Have any videos of you shooting them?

Well I would say the break us bigger than the Golden rain willow . Regarding the proud - it is bigger than that as well. I do have video of multicolor prony - just have to figure out where I put it .

Nice, those seemed to be the biggest breaks I’ve seen on video. You got me excited now! Looking forward to seeing the video.

1. For me Glittering Brocades is great. Absolutely massive and a nice golden cross-hatched break, pretty decent 15-20s length too. I also recommend everything LondonFan has suggested, Vendetta is great. 2. Just like everyone else, I haven't tried it. Personally I don't see the value in it, especially not for the $80 price tag, I'd rather pick and choose or buy in bulk and get a deal on single shot mortars. 3. BEM Colour Peony and the other BEM shells. They're maximum load, loud, colourful, and pretty affordable... What more could you want?

Thanks for the reply!
Agreed that glittering brocades is great! I think it went down in price as well which makes it an even better value!
After doing so more homework it looks like they took some of their existing mortars and stuck it in a box. Unless they price it to clear I’ll probably never end up trying it either.
I’ve only heard good things about BEM’s mortars. Unfortunately, my main “discount” seller is supplied exclusively by Mystical. I’m looking into the Multicoloured peony that Grisom recommended for that reason!
