I can’t go ahead with my annual May long weekend show. But plan on doing it whenever things gets lifted. It’s gonna happen...just don’t know when.

Yes. A nail board was my first "remote" firing system. Crude and simple, but it works well. My first attempt was with 9 volt batteries. Second attempt with AA's. The current is higher for more stable repeated firing. Which batteries are advised for prolonged use? I also have pretty much unlimited access to Cat6 ethernet wire and connectors, which makes the building of longer range stuff easy and cheap. It's also kind of fun. You do feel a bit of control, like hand lighting. Lots of YouTube videos on this. Part of the learning fun.

Totally agree! Great mortars and priced to afford lots of them. Even though I use them every year, I am always shocked by both the bang and flash. Sub zero has such a great pattern to it as well.

There’s always a good old fashion nail board! Thanks for the recommendations Londonfan! I don’t have the luxury of purchasing from a local store so maybe I’ll look into shipping something from China! I’ll definitely have to do my research though. If I find anything worth sharing I’ll post it here!

Love sub zero and also golden eye. Great mortars for the size of the them. Well you could use Sub Zero by Competition fireworks . Or you could use gold mine by mystical.

What part of the country? Haha glad I could bring on some nostalgia for you! Halloween is 7 months away so I better pump the breaks (pun intended) on my fireworks research. It’s a shame we don’t get to have fun on Canada day like other parts of Canada.

Technology has changed dramatically since Launch Control. I would pay the extra for the newer system. Oh that one isn’t too bad either. $30 bucks for the launch control vs $85 for the firefly. Pros of the firefly is that the clips are reusable Pros of the launch control is that it’s cheaper haha I’ll check out some more videos to see what other folks have to say while we wait to see if anyone else has anymore recent experience.

Silver Palm!!!! Just remembered Those are really nice but I’m not sure it’s the one I’m after. The one I’m looking for enters the screen at 8:46 with a bushy tail and then explodes into large silver brocade? However, I could be wrong again and perhaps humidity and smoke are covering up the center of the firework and exaggerating the silver streams. Maybe Eldorado/Silverado? Though I think those are smaller shells so I can’t see them being bigger than the others.

How about that Firefly system they have? Im thinking about getting this system as well as I can’t justify buying a more expensive system for my annual Halloween shoot. Anyone have any recent experience with it? I see it for sale by rocket fireworks so it must be a good product to be in stock for 5+ years?

If I recall it was a mixture of rainbow and red BEM single mortars. Can’t remember exact name of them. It’s been awhile. Lol Thanks guys. Appreciate the kind words. Here's a link to the setup of the show. You'll see the finale cakes and my candle rack really briefly in the beginning. I'll send a picture if you want more detail. youtu.be/LJRUwlYmZEsGuess I’m a little late to the party... what we’re some of those mortars you used for the finale? Those were HUGE! I’m especially interested in the ones that went off at 8:52 (I think you had a rack full of them looking at the setup video).

Don’t think it matters for Victoria Day. Think the lockdown is going to impact a lot of shows. Peterborough already cancelled their show for Victoria Day.
I think my own personal show is in jeopardy as well.

Hands has a database on 3D for display cakes I don’t think you’ll ever see 1.4g on 3D I was referring to Finale. Not Finale 3D

I use Finale. Haven’t upgraded to 3D yet. But 3D is great for designing a show. Only drawback is there is zero Canadian consumer product in the inventory which means you have to ‘create’ the product.

I hardly get to use the new stuff for my May long weekend show as they usually don’t get here in tike. But some nice cakes for sure.

Glittering brocades and the Proud seem to be the biggest breaks that we have noticed . Wizard and Seismic Thunder both gave rather large breaks but technically classed as barrages as they have 7 tubes . If you want a large break item buy multicoloured peony (Brazilian Tube style ) by Competition fireworks . 9 big shots - Strangely enough we haven't tried . In our case with mortars we tend to shoot them off in multiples of 5 . So I can't see us buying 5 of them . Glittering brocade for sure. Just because it groups shells together to give it a large feel. My whole finale last year was 20 Wizards and 4 Glittering Brocades.

Consumer ideally Are you talking 1.4g or 1.3g? If it's 1.3g, then there are lots - in just about every color you can imagine. For 1.4g, I can't think of any, but then I'm not very current on product. Haven't shot a "family show now for almost 2 years.

Can anyone think of a single shot item that shoots one ball and no tail?
