I am a big fan of the Pyro Pro Series cakes, especially Royal Brocade. I lit 6 of these cakes this year (all except snapshot) out of about 11 I had and got comments that the show was really loud.
Will you be e-firing or hand lighting? I had a high volume idea which I did not get to execute this year, but it's going to require e-firing or at least some fuse. 24 x Airbombs at Phatboy for $15. I was thinking of firing them all within a few seconds, or a build up of 1 per second leading up to a bunch at the same time.
We should totally do something like this in Ontario, I would be in for sure. I am going to my sisters up in North Bay in a couple weeks, I have not been there yet but my step-brother tells me we can get fireworks all the time and there are places we can go to light them off. They live on/close to an Indian reserve. This may be a good location although it's kinda far.

Do or die is on my list to get some comets as well, the other comet cakes I saw were CRACKLING METEORS and Silver Monster both from Mystical, do you know of any others? I found one mine cake but it has crackle, www.rocketfireworks.ca/landmine.htmlI found one other Hands mine that they have at redbomb called EMERALD FIRE (green mine). It's only $2 as well but I need to spend $200 there to get anything shipped. That's my biggest issue with getting things shipped is making the min order.

The bylaw is pretty standard I think? I guess they are a little restrictive as you can't have fireworks on New Years, only Victoria Day and Canada Day. Diwali is allowed in some places like Brampton, but now you need a permit in Brampton even for consumer product.
These laws are not really enforced around Canada Day and Victoria Day, many people light in the park. I was watching some fireworks in the park and the Cops came because some some stupid kids were shooting roman candles at some other kids. They asked us what was going on and if we saw the kid they had in the back of the car doing anything. They did not seem concerned with the others lighting off fireworks safely.

Anyone seen this guy Kevin "Jackal" Johnson running for mayor of Mississauga? He wants to allow fireworks more often in Mississauga. I'm not sure how I feel about this guy, I like the fireworks idea and some of his other ideas, but he seems a little crazy.

That's too bad, the first set with the stars did look nice, but I guess the clown is a little too complex. You mention Spanish lances, do Spanish products make more smoke or are generally lower quality?
I remember an episode of Pyros where they had a really bad smoked out show and I think they mentioned the humidity and lack of wind will really get you, is the quality of product also a factor?

Nice show, too bad the set pieces did not show up too well in the video. Did they look good in real life?

That sounds really cool I am going to try this when I can get my hands on some fountains.

I like fountains as well but no one in my area seems to so I have a hard time finding them. I think this looks like a cool fountain:

I love watching Japanese shells on YouTube as they do some crazy things. I think the problem is we can't have shells big enough for any advanced patterns, even in the US where they can have the 1.75" reloadables that's not big enough. I did see some cool heart rockets that are US consumer product www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmsVJ_UGuToI think I read shells start to get interesting at the 6" mark, that's where they have enough space to do something cool. I am new to the fireworks game but it looks like new product does not come out all that often, as it costs a lot to get a product approved for sale, and there is only so much you can do with 25G of composite.

Thanks for your suggestions, the Insurance is the part that worries me the most, as from what I have read I am responsible if anyone were to get hurt and can be held liable. Do you know anymore about the insurance aspect? I read the 5 million is required for professional displays, but for consumer the form to fill out does not say anything about insurance requirements at all. Could I maybe get less than 5 million? Any idea on the cost of this insurance? Can you get insurance like this just for one day or do I need to carry some fireworks policy all year long? I wonder if the convention center has any type of insurance to cover this? I have asked my buddy to look into if the location will allow it, but I have my doubts as they say on facebook they only allow professional shows then have a video of a gypsy wedding with fireworks inside, it's actually pretty funny He did however say the brochure he has says something about fireworks so he is going to look into it more, I am guessing it says you can have a professional display but can't do it yourself.

I was speaking with a buddy today who has a wedding coming up and was asking about doing a fireworks show. He does not have a ton to spend and I would be willing to do it for free if he pays for all the product, but I am wondering if this is legal, or if I would still need to be a Fireworks Supervisor to do a show with all consumer product? How do we go about getting an approval to do this (I understand you need to have a permit, although I am sure many people don't get one)
Anything else I need to worry about, Insurance seems important in case someone gets hurt, but I would hope that does not happen, and if it did the risks are much lower with consumer product. I would ask him to deal with the insurance and anything else that needs to be done, but want to make sure I could not be held liable, or if I could I have insurance to cover myself.
Any advice would be great, or info about how possible this would be, or if I should tell him he needs to contact a professional?

ah nice Fireplay I wanted but could not find, there is a green one as well called Lucky Charm. Subzero I had but I messed up firing it so it blended in with something else and I did not get to really enjoy it, but it does look like it's nice.
I really like that silverado that looks awesome, and the Red Burst volcano looks nice as well. Will have to find a source with BEM.

Do you guys have a video of this shell going off from a little further away? I want to see the full break. I was tempted to buy it but like you said its expensive so I never did. I will have to get one next year. Any other large tube items you guys recommend? I bought some last year and was a little disappointed so I did not get any this year.

Looks like it may be dead until next summer. Is there another weekend you can get fireworks? What about civic holiday weekend? I see there are some pro shows but I don't think we can buy/use legally. I think next holiday coming up is Diwali and I am not sure we can celebrate that in my town, then new years.
I am playing around with a few arduous right now seeing what I can come up with, I have the arduinos but waiting for my transceivers to come in.
Killed off the few roman candles I had last weekend, now all I have is Air Bombs and don't want to light those off other than on a designated holiday due to the noise. Going to my sisters up north so maybe I will take them there and see if I can use them.

Ya, with the Pyro Ignition software you can do whatever you mention above, very easily. Thanks you are right, I did not take a close enough look at it before and I see the HandFire option allows you to do this.

Ah ok thanks for the info that makes sense, I guess you just send your current transmitter to this guy and he does the mods (using the parts already in the transmitter I am guessing, which is why you don't need the radio part)
I was actually going to try to build my own transmitter, but was not sure how all this worked or if it would even work with my system. I was looking at SuperbFire - OpenPyro_Transmitter_mini within the files.
I am going to see how far I can get trying to build my own system as it seems none of the systems but cobra has the feature I want, which is to be able to use stepper but at the same time have one of my steps fire multiple queues at the same time, or fire a set of queues separated by time. Also gives me an excuse to play with some arduinos.

maybe I am misunderstanding what you need to do.
I though you need to basically make your own transmitter using the arduino and RT-11 433.9 (AUREL TX-SAW 433) then this connects to your computer as well and when you send a signal from the computer it goes to your homemade transmitter then sends the command to the firing system. Are you taking apart your transmitter you already have to get the part, or am I misunderstanding how this all works?

It is a lot of work, but efiring is totally worth it because you can sit back and watch the show. For next year its going to even better because my control modules are going to be fired with the Pyro Ignition Control software. So its going to be one press of the mouse on the laptop and the show fires. This year for July 1st I installed 70 cakes with ignitors and 100 shells. I pre-wired all my talons a week before then took about 2 hours to hook up to the modules. But like I said, well worth it! Where did you find the radio part to use Pyro Ignition Control? I am having some problems finding the RT-11 433.9 (AUREL TX-SAW 433) part to build the transmitter. I also was not sure if it will work with my system. I see it works with MS32Q so it will probably work with my MB32Q but it may take some modifications that I am probably not capable of doing without some help (seems they hacked the system or something? not sure how they are syncing to the modules when I though they are supposed to be secure?) What system are you using it with? I though the openpyro project was abandoned but I saw recently a post on PyroU from the creators saying they are releasing .04 soon. Instead I bought a couple Arduinos and nRF24L01 2.4GHz Radio/Wireless Transceivers and I am going to see if I can come up with something myself.

Do you have a link to the circus orange show, I want to see what that was all about? Glad to hear harbor front was not all that great, I was a little disappointed I did not get see that one. I liked the CNE show, they had a nice variety of shells but I wish they had more lower effects and mines. I really liked the shells they have at around 7:00 these ones: Of course its much different watching for real instead of seeing a video, I enjoyed the show I saw in Streestville the best out of the 2, maybe because I was so close to the action, and they had some nice layers.

I have the rfremotech MB32Q (Magic Fire B) system.
The cabling took me the longest as I was not really prepared, and I could not find proper scab wire so I was using Ethernet cable, and not even a roll but a random pile of Ethernet cables that were different lengths. I should have worked out the lengths I needed and cut everything before hand and it would have been a lot easier. Because of this my runs of cable were pretty messy and short, like 5 feet or so.
I also did not bring something out to raise the module up so it was flat on the ground and because of this I was closer to the setup than the crowd as I was worried if I got too far it would not work (I have read on PyroU that you should always raise up the module) and I also did not do a proper range test on the module before using it.
Overall I made a lot of little mistakes but in the end everything worked out pretty well, but could have gone a lot smoother. was my first time efiring so I was happy with the results.

Night assault was nice, I shot them both off at the same time and one was breaking right after the other so it looked sweet. They were actually supposed to be splat! but they did not have any in stock so I got these instead. Not sure if they are worth the full price but I got 2 for $16 since they did not have Splat! in stock. I should have filmed but I was too excited and also tired from setup. Never realized how much work efiring is, especially when you are trying to use Ethernet cables and don't have them cut to the right length. I gained much respect for you guys that do big shows and the amount of work you put in. I only had to wire like 15 queues and it still took me a while.

There is supposed to be Oshawow (Oshawa International Fireworks Competition) show on Labor Day weekend but I dunno if it's goiing to happen as I have not seen much about it. Last year they were even selling tickets and had a facebook page but then the facebook page was taken down and the spot to buy tickets was removed. They do still have a website though oshawow.com/

very cool! If I go for my license next year maybe I can try to get some jobs with them as it looks like they do shows in our area. I almost went to go watch that show last night in Brampton but went to Streetsville instead because it was closer and I knew where to park.

It's hard for me to say, as I have never really seen a shell fired in real life and known the size that it was. If I had to guess I would say maybe 6" but it seems like it was bigger to me. Maybe one of the guys here that does professional displays would be able to judge the shell size. Looking at the shoot site here, maybe they had the larger shells back where the 3rd pointer on the right is. Furthest to the left is where I was sitting, and the middle point is where the cakes and at least some racks were that I could see before it got dark.
